Dear Adam and Trish,
My name is Roy Avecilla and I used to work for SEP School (Program Coordinator when the school was still under OSI)..I am currently working for an American university based in Cha-am (Webster University). Katie Julian informed me of what happened and I was wondering how we can assist. Right now, our International Business Club just recently conducted a clothes fund drive for two orphanages located in the province. But I have talked to the chairperson of the Business Department and suggested that the clothes that were gathered be instead, sent to the victims of the fire. She agreed to this and I am writing to you as to how we can send these clothes donation to the victims. I will be having a midterm break come the first week of March and I could probably bring the donations to Mae Sot. Would this be possible then?
Pleas let me know so I can coordinate…
Thank you again!
Roy
That sounds wonderful, we travel to the camp each week and would be more than happy to take them up to camp. Contact us at trish.l.becker@gmail.com and we can send you our shipping address if you don’t want to make a trip up to Mae Sot. Thank you so much Roy.
Hi guys,
First off, thank you for doing this.
Have you considered a facebook-page or facebook-event? It’s easier to share and would maybe also alert some media-attention.
Just a thought
Hey Trish,
I’ve shared it here: http://www.reddit.com/r/rwb/comments/q3sjw/a_friend_of_mine_is_teaching_burmese_refugees_in/ If there are other important details I need to include, please let me know!
Also, Re: Hanna’s post, there is a facebook page for Umphiem and it’s been updated recently (although only 24 people like it). Maybe that’s a start? http://www.facebook.com/pages/Umphiem-Refugee-camp/310873552260476

Hi Trish!
I hope you are doing well.
Our student volunteers have collected a couple of boxes of clothes for the victims. I might not be able to carry all of them when I go to Mae Sot (I intend to go there during our Spring term break..that is between March 11 to the 18 ..though my target to go to Mae Sot is on the 11th)..what I plan to do is to send some of the boxes of clothes by mail. Would it then be possible for you to provide me with a mailing address and to whom should I address the boxes to?
It would be also nice if I could meet you in Mae Sot to hand you the clothes I would be bringing. I plan to stay at the DK Hotel in Mae Sot. I wish I could visit Umpiem Mai and see my “former” home..but I am not sure if security in the camp would be tight…at any rate, please provide me a postal address so that the boxes of clothes could be sent as soon as possible…my cellphone number is: 089-168-1322. Hope I could get in touch with you too…
Thank you again!
Roy
